Lecture-Recital - “Audiovisual Enhancements for the Contemporary Artist”

This lecture-recital leads listeners through an introductory vocabulary to discussing the audiovisual medium and leaves them with a greater understanding of ways to describe the common film as well as what is known as multimedia art. As part of this method of relating video to sound (and vice versa), the listener also gets a deep dive into the mechanics of achieving this in a live performance setting using the software Max from Cycling ‘74. This features works from John Cage, Dr. Austin Franklin, and Dr. Nick Rissman.

DMA Document - “Forging Better Practices for Electro-acoustic Music”

My work in the electro-acoustic genre resulted in a compilation of themes and ideas discussed in the capstone project of my DMA at CCM in Cincinnati. Read about the early history of this genre, explore modern realizations of pieces by Stockhausen and Cage inside Max, and learn about different live electronic repertoire for percussion. This document has broad applications for today’s composer, performer, and programmer no matter their level of familiarity of Max. The appendix also includes deep dives into my audiovisual projects that were created during this period as well.
